A new novel from Adam Nevill is always a cause for celebration …
Here’s the publisher’s information about it:
MONUMENTAL is our eighth book in ten years of publishing at Ritual Limited, and it is my thirteenth horror novel. I began writing my first horror novel in September 1997. I always take a moment at these times to look over my shoulder, and breathe out. They’re still pursuing me, hunting me, but haven’t yet torn me apart …
This is also my favourite day on the Ritual Limited calendar. After months and months of managing editorial, generations of text design and design proofreads, jacket creation, eBook conversion, audio book recordings and the proofing of the digital editions, as well as the creation of the online listings, the marketing, the business admin’ … finally after all of that, we have an actual physical book to grasp in our claws, to behold, and to offer to you readers. Hardcore readers, who are invited to secure a copy before anyone else, because you’re newsletter subscribers. And I know that some of you have been reading my books since 2004 too, when 700 copies of Banquet for the Damned were published. To me, that matters. Monumentally!
What is MONUMENTAL about?
A novel of pagan terror from the author of The Ritual and The Reddening.
Disaster strikes quickly and without warning. What should have been a glorious weekend of kayaking and camping, in a secluded beauty spot, is transformed by a scream. The first crisis, initiating a deadly momentum that accelerates as the valley reveals itself to Marcus and his five companions.
They’re trespassing on strictly private land. There’s only one way out. An escape route closed until the next high tide fills the estuary. In twelve hours’ time.
Recreation becomes survival.
Marooned, unable to summon help, harassed by dire and worsening circumstances, the ties that bind the expedition are stretched taut. If they snap, vital cooperation will unravel and the group members’ damning secrets will be revealed.
Only the most courageous and committed have any chance against the area’s inhabitants. But is any mind strong enough to endure a confrontation with the most hideous revelation of all? An ancient evil that coils beneath the valley’s sinister folklore.
A story of life and death in the wilderness, and a horrifying tale of extreme survival against supernatural powers, from the four times winner of the August Derleth Award for Best Horror Novel.

As with all of my books, I have included notes at the back about the story that you will have just read: what inspired the tale and ideas, what my aesthetic goals were, how it fits into my body of work. That kind of thing.
This time around, there are also 800 copies of the limited edition, dust-jacketed hardback available, so the pressure of obtaining a book quickly may have eased. With previous books, we’ve sold the 600 print run in around four weeks, but I hope the extra 200 copies of Monumental will give more folks an opportunity to get a copy in future months (particularly if they miss the first newsletters). If we’re not left with 200 in the office until the end of time, we may repeat a 800 print run for the next book too.

INFORMATION ON ORDERING & SHIPPING:
We’re slightly increasing the price to £27.99 – and it’s the first increase since the first book we published in 2016. Since back then, pretty much everything has gone up except our books.
We’ll begin packing your orders through December. But, we only begin shipping the orders in early January 2026 in order to avoid the Christmas mountain. On April 2nd, the other three editions will drop. So this is also an opportunity to read the book first in hardback.
As with previous titles, once you receive a “fulfilled” notice, this means that your order is signed and packed. Due to volume, we then stagger runs to the post office for UK orders and courier pick-ups for international orders. So, we don’t post and ship every order on the same day, or as soon as you order. Some folks will get their copy before you, on account of our staggered pick-ups and drop-offs, on account of where you are in the world, and when you ordered. But that doesn’t mean that your copy is lost.
Almost no copies are ever lost; they pretty much all arrive, and in as timely a manner as we can manage. That’s my wife and I, working side-by-side in our new office that contains the whole operation in one room these days (as opposed to three rooms). As you know, it’s the only edition that we fulfil ourselves and it’s a big commitment. But what makes it worthwhile, is seeing you appreciate the books. So, please, run them up the flagpole online and tag us. We always massively appreciate your reviews and thoughts. You can find and tag me on Facebook, Instagram and X.
